The theme of my diorama is show the importance of recycling. To make this scene, I recycled a large shoe box and covered it with green and brown construction paper. For the actual scene, I pasted clouds scrapbooking paper on the walls of the shoe box. I then hot glued small plastic trees to make them look like they are in the distance. I then took tan tissue paper and crinkled it up to look like dirty, flowing water for the river and hot glued it to the bottom of the box. I then took a green, plastic outdoor mat and cut it to make the grassy areas to frame the river. I then hot glued tiny bottles, cola cans, and other trash onto the river so that it would look like it was floating. I then recycled an old film canister and cut it down to make a trash can, which I filled with tissue paper and small bottles. I then took artificial trees and hot glued plastic into them to be a model for plastic grocery bags which get thrown out and blown around. I did all of these to show how important it is to recycle as much materials as we can so that we can keep our parks and streams and our earth in general, beautiful.
